[0.0s] Previously on Dumbgeons and Dragons. [3.2s] And this blue orb appears and you are back and you look to Mirabar and you see plumes of smoke coming up from the city. [11.4s] Thea sits down on the ground and pulls out a joint. [14.3s] Yeah, guys, this is a lot. What the hell is going on? [18.3s] I look at Flynn's face and I throw him a joint. [22.4s] This is much needed. [24.0s] Out of Flynn's mouth, Bort begins to scream. [29.2s] He said I wanted to come back. I did not want to come here with you. [34.2s] But if the choice was that or die, isn't this a better choice? [37.9s] Bort is gone and Flint is back. [39.8s] Flint, where did you go? What did that feel like? What's going on, buddy? Tell me. [43.5s] It does not feel good when that happens, I will tell you that much. [46.7s] And as you look to the east over the top of another large hill, [51.0s] you see the remaining soldiers of the Axe of Mirabar marching towards Mirabar. [59.1s] Guys, they haven't made it there yet. [61.1s] Crimsbane probably isn't controlling them yet. [63.3s] As you fly more towards the army, they see you and they yell up to you. [69.0s] If you don't want to be shot from the sky, you should probably come down now. [73.8s] What's your name, sir? [74.6s] I am Commander Hammerstryker and I am the commander of the Axe of Mirabar. [78.8s] Hammerstryker? Yeah. [80.3s] Where do you think Crimsbane is? [83.0s] The most fortified location in the city is likely where you were when you were in the break. [89.4s] Thea, you are searching rooms and you hear a startled yell. [95.1s] And as you become visible to Osric, he swings down at you with his axe. [100.8s] Where have you guys been? [102.7s] Around. [104.2s] Hey guys, he's in here. [105.8s] How long have we been gone? [107.4s] Uh, you guys have been gone for three weeks. [111.4s] What? [112.1s] What? [113.2s] That was unexpected. [114.5s] Yeah. [115.4s] Okay. [115.9s] All of you hear a static charge and you hear what you think is Salazar. [122.3s] Tibby, where are you? [123.8s] We just got your signal back. [124.9s] Ah, you stupid man. [130.3s] Welcome to Dumbgeons and Dragons. [131.9s] This is a fifth edition D&D actual play podcast. [136.0s] I'm your Dungeon Master, Russ More, and with me today is Amy More, who plays Thea Amastasia. [142.3s] Hey there. [142.9s] And Carla Johnson playing New Laura Moonbrook. [145.3s] Hello. [146.2s] And Flint Firebeard, who was played by Tom Laird. [151.6s] Yes. [153.1s] Sorry to interrupt. [154.4s] I like I like the switch because now that means I have a friend in real life who's a dwarf. [159.6s] And that sounds amazing. [160.8s] Hooray! [161.4s] Everybody wins. [163.1s] How are you guys? [165.8s] Good. [166.5s] Doing well. [168.6s] Eloquent as always. [171.2s] Excellent. [172.3s] This is good. [173.0s] Good banter we've got going on here. [175.4s] We wasted it all before we started. [177.2s] We're really vibing on the banter right now. [179.4s] It's pretty. [180.0s] I always feel like Russ's innocent questions are like a trap for us if we say the wrong thing. [185.9s] How are you guys doing? [187.0s] Good. [187.7s] Roll a D20. [190.1s] Yeah, see? [190.8s] And then maybe we're not so good. [192.2s] There's something about not even I was going to say the format, but it's not because we were just chatting before we started recording, [200.2s] but something about like the second we say we're playing that we absolutely forget how human communication works. [208.2s] Like we cannot talk to NPCs. [211.0s] We can't even talk to each other, our actual friends in real life. [216.7s] It's a weird thing. [217.6s] The story checks out completely. [219.8s] Sounds about right. [220.6s] It's an interesting barrier you guys have put up there. [223.0s] I mean, there's a real fourth wall thing going on. [224.9s] But yeah, as long as you commit to the awkward, awkward interaction, it's good. [230.8s] Yeah, my life has just been a series of awkward interactions. [234.7s] This is just a recorded, awkward interaction. [240.5s] Well, good. [241.3s] Let's if all the awkward banter is done for now, we can we can jump right on in. [248.6s] So we left off last time and you had figured out, Nularaaa, that you appear to have a communicator that was left in your your arrow quiver. [259.7s] And it appears to be Salazar speaking on the other end. [262.8s] We're going to take a quick step back from there. [266.0s] We're rewinding just a little bit. [267.5s] So, Flint, you guys have just found Osric and everybody's talking amongst themselves. [273.2s] But you yourself have been kind of quiet and concentrating, trying to fight Bort for control of your body since you returned from Enan. [283.4s] But in this moment, your mind is quiet and you find yourself being able to relax for the first time since entering, really, the library of the dead. [294.0s] You seem to ignore the conversations around you. [297.8s] You hear them, but you're not really paying attention to them. [300.2s] You're reveling in the silence now upon you when you hear Bort in your mind very quietly say, [308.4s] So I think we might have got off on the wrong foot. [314.2s] Well, we were kind of thrust together without anyone's consent. [320.2s] Yeah, yeah, that happened. [322.6s] And I feel like I've been treating you a little little poorly. [327.1s] I mean, I've been screaming like a child in here. [330.3s] I've noticed. [331.4s] Yeah, and I had a moment of contemplation when I thought maybe maybe we could help each other. [337.8s] I like the sound of this. [339.1s] I recognize that I was angry and I've never been known to take things calmly before. [344.6s] I mean, Ralph, Ralph had been working with me on that up until I had my head chopped off, obviously. [350.5s] And I want to I want to help not hinder anymore and hopefully find a way to separate us [357.6s] and get me another body. [360.7s] I mean, I know you guys said you would help with that. [364.0s] I just feel like I wasn't really receptive to that. [366.3s] So instead, I just tried to, you know, annoy you until I took over your body. [371.6s] I'm sorry. [372.8s] It was what you thought was right. [374.2s] It's OK. [375.4s] We do know some fancy magic types in a different town. [380.2s] We just haven't had a chance to go there yet. [383.0s] So when we do, hopefully they'll have some sort of solution to our problem. [389.0s] That sounds good. [389.8s] That sounds good. [390.3s] So what I'm going to do is, you know, just kind of hang out in here and, you know, [396.6s] offer my two cents if I if I if I have it, if you think that's cool. [400.7s] Definitely. [401.5s] That's good. [402.2s] And you know what? [403.0s] I think that I'm able to channel and just as he's saying this, [406.9s] you hear the communicator catch in and it kind of cuts him off mid-sentence. [412.9s] Right before the communicator going to Thea now. [415.7s] I'm sorry. [416.3s] Is this was this Flint like mumbling to himself [419.3s] or is he having a conversation in his head? [421.0s] He's having a conversation in his mind. [422.7s] OK. [423.3s] So you guys see him be like, oh, yeah, he's he's kind of just, [427.2s] you know, stoically standing there kind of deep, deep in thought or zoned [431.4s] as you guys appear him. [433.0s] Thea, you got the Book of the Druids and you read through it. [437.1s] And it made you think differently about how being a druid should work. [443.5s] You've been thinking about this book since you got back. [445.8s] And this has kind of been going through your mind [448.2s] throughout the last last couple days, couple days for you. [451.7s] And to this point, you've kind of used your druid ship [455.3s] as more of a way to benefit yourself and make yourself money [463.3s] in terms of selling your your wares, your weed products to to certain people. [469.3s] And you've been a little bit almost hesitant to truly commit [473.4s] to true druid ship to this point. [476.9s] You've used your learned skills to help your business grow, so to speak. [480.9s] But that seems to be mostly all it's been to you. [483.8s] More of an enhancement of your nature. [487.0s] Maybe your family growing up kind of held you back [491.0s] or maybe on your path to understand your nature. [493.9s] You were lost on your desire to make profits of your skills. [497.8s] Maybe a little bit. [499.0s] Whatever the reason, after having read the Book of the Druids, [503.0s] which you acquired from the Library of the Dead on Eden, [506.9s] something inside of you suddenly clicks in this kind of same moment [512.1s] as Flint is having this internal conversation. [516.2s] And you get it. [517.4s] All of your skills and connections to nature itself become clear to you. [524.2s] Your connection to your skills seems more focused now. [527.5s] And your spells seem like second nature now. [530.2s] And you feel inside of you, your wild shape churning and begging for freedom. [538.1s] Every animal you have ever seen begins flooding to your mind all at once. [543.1s] You see bears and eagles and tigers all trying to help you enhance your abilities. [552.3s] You look down at your equipment and you suddenly feel a distaste, [560.2s] a severe distaste for the metal things you have. [565.1s] You drop your spear, you drop your daggers, [568.6s] and you look down at your new armor and where... [572.5s] New armor! [574.0s] Where before you overlooked its metal build, [577.6s] it doesn't repulse you quite the same as your spear and your other weapons did. [582.8s] You analyze it a little more closely. [586.2s] And you feel a magical aura coming off of it. [590.7s] You can't quite tell what the enchantment or the aura is, [595.3s] but you feel like it's not truly metal. [598.6s] It just appears metal. [600.2s] So it, to you, you don't feel the need to get rid of it. [604.9s] Oh good, I just got it. [606.7s] It's a lot of hassle to get that armor. [608.2s] It was. [608.7s] I know. [609.5s] So to everybody else watching you, Thea, they just see you drop your metal weaponry. [615.7s] Druids kind of maintain their use of scimitars, [618.6s] but your daggers you drop, your spear you drop. [622.3s] And then both you, Thea, and Nulara, [626.7s] in this moment, just before the communicator clicks in, [629.8s] you pause and you feel waves of energy from the world course through all at once. [637.8s] And what moments ago felt calm is now suddenly darker [643.7s] and seems like an energy is tainted or evil. [648.4s] And these people you are fighting, the Cult of the Dragon, [651.5s] you sense that they have just moved a step closer to their goal. [656.0s] You can't sense exactly how close they are [658.6s] or what they have just done, but something in the very essence of nature itself, [664.2s] something evil is coming and is closer. [671.1s] And then the communicator kicks in. [673.6s] Tibby, Tibby! [674.9s] Oh, where are you? [676.9s] Nulara, you search through your quiver and you find [679.8s] a small kind of cogwork communicator [683.8s] that appears kind of the same build and make as what Tibby is made of. [689.8s] And the sound is coming out of that. [693.0s] Do you want to roll, just roll a d20 for me? [697.4s] Uh, that is a three. [699.4s] Nice! [700.9s] So I throw it in the river. [705.6s] What is this? [706.2s] This is evil. [707.1s] Did you tie it up first? [708.6s] Yes, important question. [710.1s] Thank you, Flint. [711.2s] Use your intelligence modifier there. [715.6s] Well, that's a one, so that's a four. [717.9s] So it really made a difference. [720.2s] So you look at this device and you don't have an idea of how to potentially make it work. [727.0s] Guys, I can't figure out how this works. [729.3s] Can one of you? [730.1s] Do one of you? [731.1s] I don't know. [731.8s] I miss Tibby. [733.0s] How do we work this? [734.2s] Meanwhile, the communicator says, [735.5s] Tibby, where the hell have you been? [737.9s] Answer me! [738.8s] Is that? [739.9s] Is that Salazar? [741.1s] It sounds like Salazar and I'm holding this thing and like just fumbling it in my hands. [745.8s] Like I don't know how to... [747.4s] Salazar! [748.5s] Just holding it, yelling at it. [749.9s] I don't know how it works. [751.1s] I rolled an 11. [752.6s] Thea, you come over and you look at it and there is a button on the side. [758.6s] Does it say on? [759.9s] No, there just appears to be a button or a switch that... [764.2s] Like a walkie talkie. [765.6s] You are able to depress and it, the static that's coming through, it stops. [772.7s] Hey, try this. [774.4s] Hello? [775.0s] I let the button go. [776.0s] From the device, he says, [780.1s] Is that? [780.7s] Is that Thea? [781.9s] I press the button again. [783.4s] Who's asking? [784.2s] This is really quite a good conversation, obviously. [788.2s] This is Salazar. [791.0s] Where's Tibby and where have you guys been? [793.4s] Uh, you know, that's like a super long story. [801.8s] Guys? [802.3s] We like transported to some different place and now Flint has another dude in his head [809.8s] and everything is totally crazy. [812.6s] Also, we were gone for three weeks and now Tibby's gone too [816.2s] and an evil army is taking over a town. [819.5s] So where are you at? [822.0s] Oh, ask him what he's wearing. [827.0s] Says... [827.6s] She ignores me. [828.7s] No, I'm not asking that. [829.5s] Well, you're the one holding it. [830.8s] I assumed you just said that while you were still holding it. [832.6s] Oh, I thought you were holding it and I was just pressing the button. [835.1s] No, I don't know. [835.7s] That was my understanding. [836.8s] I was just jumping in. [837.8s] I like that better. [839.2s] You are holding it and Thea just pushing, just pushing the button. [843.6s] That's what I imagined. [847.5s] He says, [848.4s] What do you mean Tibby's gone? [850.4s] I'm back at the guild. [852.1s] Three... [852.9s] Yeah, I guess that timeline lines up. [854.8s] You guys have been kind of disappeared for a little more than three weeks [858.4s] as we lost you before we sent Tibby to try and find you. [862.7s] Okay, army taking over. [865.6s] You guys just kind of make danger up as you go, don't you? [869.2s] It just kind of follows you around. [871.2s] I think this one literally like this danger [873.4s] just jumped out at us in the middle of the street. [875.6s] Like I don't think this one was our fault. [877.7s] Interesting. [878.6s] Okay. [879.8s] Yeah, I know it doesn't sound right to me either. [882.4s] We probably did find it. [884.0s] Hey, what just happened? [886.2s] Did something just happen? [887.8s] I felt something. [889.9s] Well, I don't know what you're talking about. [894.6s] What do you mean something just happened? [896.6s] So I'm like looking at Flint and Thea [899.4s] because I just felt this crazy wash of power or whatever happened. [904.2s] So I'm looking at them like, [905.9s] guys, did you just feel that like something has changed? [912.2s] I didn't feel anything. [913.7s] Yes, I felt it too. [915.0s] Something is definitely happening. [916.6s] Well, we've been tracking the cult a little bit. [922.0s] They're doing some pretty bad stuff around. [925.1s] We haven't been able to track down [927.0s] where exactly they've been kind of collecting yet. [931.4s] But pretty much entirety of Faerun is falling apart, [940.2s] whether it's the cult or it's just rogue groups [943.3s] popping up in cities and claiming them for themselves. [946.6s] They've taken the cult as kind of a call to action [951.6s] to just allow evil to run rampant. [953.8s] Okay. [954.4s] Well, that sounds really bad. [955.9s] Yeah, it's not good. [956.7s] We're here in Mirabar. [958.5s] Half of the army has been enchanted. [961.2s] Somehow through their armor by an evil wizard. [964.2s] Any tips on some kind of disarming? [968.2s] You're a smart guy. [969.3s] Got any tips and tricks? [971.9s] Disarming, enchanted armor. [976.4s] I mean, it sounds like something magical. [978.2s] I can get the wizards on it over here [981.5s] and just see if they can't figure something out. [984.2s] But we might need more information as to [987.1s] who's doing the spell and how they're doing it [992.2s] in order to shut it down. [995.8s] It's an elf wizard named Primsbane. [1000.3s] The name sounds familiar. [1002.9s] I feel like he's been someone who's been trying [1004.9s] to track us down for quite a while now. [1007.7s] He found us and he thinks that we can lead him [1011.3s] to this big powerful energy source. [1016.0s] Yeah, don't do that. [1017.9s] But we don't really know what it is [1019.5s] and why he's referring. [1021.1s] So I'm pretty sure he's just referring to us [1025.7s] as the guild. [1027.5s] Okay, don't come home. [1028.6s] Yeah, don't come home yet. [1029.8s] Feel safe. [1030.2s] So have they turned the entire Axe of Mirabar? [1034.4s] Because that would be bad. [1035.7s] Well, like half? [1039.0s] Half of the army is outside of town. [1041.0s] We've warned them not to come into town [1043.1s] because as soon as they do, [1044.6s] something activates in their armor [1047.4s] and they become like zombies or automatons or something. [1053.3s] They can't control themselves anymore. [1056.6s] So they know that, [1058.5s] at least the ones that aren't already turned, [1060.4s] but there's still a lot of them. [1063.7s] Yeah, definitely. [1066.5s] If you're sure it's in the armor, [1068.3s] it's going to take us a little while, [1069.8s] but we might be able to arrange to get new armor sent [1074.5s] to at least some of the other members of the Axe of Mirabar [1079.4s] if they're holding formation [1082.3s] so that maybe they can come in and help you. [1085.6s] So yeah, if you're certain that that's what it is, [1089.0s] we can have that sent. [1090.0s] Like I said, it'll take a bit, [1091.3s] but that's something as opposed to nothing right now. [1095.8s] Okay, I look at Thea and Flint like, right? [1100.4s] Am I remembering right? [1102.4s] We know for sure it's the armor. [1103.9s] Yeah, no, it is for sure the armor. [1106.3s] Their armor has some crazy mixture of alloys and metals [1110.4s] that is specific to them [1112.5s] and they're the only ones that got affected by this. [1116.0s] Yes, Alizar, anything you can do to help [1118.6s] because there's a lot of them. [1121.3s] We can't fight them with three of us. [1123.4s] Although I think the better thing to do [1125.4s] is to focus on fixing the enchantment [1129.7s] if we can break the spell somehow. [1131.8s] By murdering Primsby. [1133.4s] Yeah, we don't wanna like, [1135.8s] A, we can't fight a thousand army members [1139.1s] and B, we don't wanna kill all those people. [1141.8s] So if there's a way that we can save them [1144.8s] and you can get the wizards working on some sort of fix, [1148.6s] I think that's our best option. [1150.3s] Absolutely, I will do that. [1153.4s] If you figure out anything more that can help us do that, [1157.9s] let me know, but I'll get them started [1161.3s] on researching Thelonious [1163.0s] and kind of some of his schools of magic [1165.4s] and what he might be able to acquire for himself [1168.4s] and how he might be doing this [1169.8s] and get you guys some armor [1171.4s] for the other members of the army [1173.8s] and hopefully they can come in [1175.4s] and at least try and wrangle or subdue [1179.4s] some of the other, [1180.9s] some of these zombified ones that you're talking about. [1183.6s] You've got the communicator now, [1184.9s] so you should be able to just dial us back up. [1189.0s] Great. [1190.0s] Also, Tibby, I think went home? [1193.8s] Yeah, Tibby went home. [1194.7s] Went to a place that looked like the place [1197.0s] where she was from. [1199.5s] Tibby went home? [1201.3s] Tibby's home was destroyed. [1203.4s] Uh, we came back, different portals. [1210.3s] I don't know. [1210.8s] It sure looked like she went home. [1211.9s] She went somewhere different than us. [1213.8s] Well, that's interesting. [1215.3s] We had found some portal magic, [1218.3s] which we obviously used to try and get you out, [1220.2s] but yeah, Tibby's world was more or less destroyed, [1226.1s] which is why Tibby was working with us. [1228.2s] So maybe, huh. [1230.7s] Could Tibby have gone back to a different timeline before? [1235.2s] Well, you said you guys were gone for three weeks, [1238.2s] but did it seem like three weeks that you guys were gone? [1241.5s] No. [1242.1s] No, it was one day. [1243.4s] I have a feeling like you guys jumped forward in time [1247.0s] and Tibby might have gone a long ways back in time. [1252.1s] Well, hopefully, did he say he'd come back if he could? [1256.2s] Yeah, I, yeah. [1258.4s] I think that's exactly what he said. [1261.1s] Wanted to learn more about the portals. [1263.3s] Okay. [1263.7s] Well, yeah, hopefully, hopefully we can figure out more. [1266.6s] We've got some more research and stuff to do on portals. [1269.0s] And now, I guess, time jump. [1272.3s] Oh, busy day. [1273.8s] Okay, I'm going to go get started on all of this stuff here. [1277.3s] You guys. [1278.3s] Maybe Doc Brown will be around to help. [1280.2s] Tibby, Tibby, we got to go back. [1282.6s] It's your kids, Tibby. [1284.2s] It's your kids. [1285.9s] Can we please have an NPC soon that is Christopher Lloyd [1291.4s] because that sounds amazing. [1293.0s] That would be really good. [1295.0s] I'll make a note of it. [1296.5s] Guys, he's legit writing that down. [1298.2s] Okay, see you on the flippy flops, Alizar. [1300.4s] Yeah, good talking to you. [1301.4s] We'll talk to you soon. [1302.3s] I miss you. [1307.9s] He snuck it in right as he was hanging out. [1309.9s] I love it. [1312.2s] So guys, feel like the world's coming to an end. [1316.6s] Not really any help from the guild on this one right away. [1321.1s] Thoughts? [1323.4s] What should we do? [1324.6s] Let's find and murder that evil dark elf bastard. [1329.4s] Yeah, that sounds like a plan. [1330.5s] I like it. [1331.6s] Let's do that. [1333.4s] And we do that. [1335.0s] End of episode. [1336.2s] Excellent. [1336.6s] We win. [1337.1s] Good work, guys. [1338.2s] We did it. [1338.6s] Nice. [1339.8s] Hammer striker says, well, yeah, are we going in through the tunnels or do we want to? [1346.2s] Because we said that, or Osric said that they've got a whole bunch of people [1351.3s] outside the front door. [1352.6s] And yeah, I think the tunnels would probably be the best idea. [1356.9s] Yeah, I'm pretty sure we settled on the tunnels. [1359.0s] Yeah, at least the most funneled if there are, you know, [1363.1s] if there is somebody coming for us anyways. [1366.1s] Funneled tunnels? [1367.3s] Funneled tunnels. [1368.2s] Let's head to the funnel tunnels. [1369.9s] We're going to put the fun in funnel tunnel. [1372.6s] Is that anything like funnel cake? [1374.2s] Because that is delicious. [1375.2s] That sounds great. [1376.3s] OK, so that was a no on the funnel cake? [1380.4s] No, no funnel cake. [1381.4s] No funnel cake. [1382.2s] OK, all right. [1383.3s] It's disappointing. [1384.0s] Osric says, sorry, mate, the funnel cake place, it went first. [1391.0s] The zombie guys, they hit it really hard. [1393.4s] That's how it always happens. [1394.9s] I know, I know. [1395.8s] I went there first, too, and it was just a mess. [1398.7s] Flour, eggs, powdered sugar everywhere. [1405.4s] Come on, list more ingredients. [1408.2s] Baking soda, I'm sure. [1411.0s] Maybe some magic powder to make it taste so good. [1415.2s] Cinnamon, Ross, it's cinnamon. [1416.7s] No, he calls cinnamon magic powder at home, too. [1418.9s] It's kind of a weird thing to happen. [1422.3s] You don't tell me what I'm saying, cinnamon. [1425.8s] It's a real sticking point. [1427.0s] It is about dusk now, falling on the city. [1431.6s] We got to head to these tunnels, you guys. [1433.8s] I say no waiting. [1435.4s] Yeah, I agree. [1436.3s] Only murder. [1440.3s] Well, there's your episode title. [1442.4s] No waiting, only murder. [1444.1s] I was going to go with funnel tunnels. [1446.6s] He did write it in quotation marks. [1449.7s] I'll see how the episode pieces together. [1453.4s] Because we're all rested up, right? [1455.9s] Everybody should have full everything. [1457.8s] Tunnels, let's do it. [1460.2s] Let's go to them. [1461.0s] Guys, I'm going to show you some amazing shit after. [1463.9s] Just wait, just wait, just wait. [1467.3s] That sounds awesome. [1469.0s] I feel something. [1473.6s] After this immediate problem that needs to be solved, [1477.9s] we should probably figure out why it felt like, [1480.9s] I don't know, all the energy in the world [1482.8s] shifted a little bit eviler. [1486.5s] That seems like that should be on the to-do list. [1488.9s] So that was real weird and real bad. [1491.7s] But right now, we got a wizard to murder. [1495.3s] And murder him we shall. [1497.5s] And we skip gleefully towards the tunnel [1499.8s] and our task of murder. [1503.0s] Whistling a nice murdering tune. [1505.0s] Exactly. [1505.8s] You head out of the safe house there [1508.9s] and you go out into the street [1510.7s] and you're kind of sticking to the shadows [1512.8s] and the sides of the street. [1514.6s] And Torgar and Osric lead you back to the door [1520.8s] that leads down into the tunnels. [1522.6s] And now you're back down in there. [1525.1s] And the tunnels in this area are about 10 feet wide. [1530.6s] So enough for two people to walk side by side. [1533.0s] And about five, five and a half to, [1536.5s] you know, five and three quarter feet tall. [1539.5s] I crouch. [1541.8s] So anybody who needs to crouch is probably crouching. [1544.6s] And they're all very dry and stone built. [1548.8s] But when you get down into this first set of tunnels, [1553.4s] you hear somewhere very faint within the tunnels. [1558.0s] A very reverberated thud. [1561.9s] Very consistent as you're walking in here. [1565.6s] They're very muted at first. [1568.2s] And you begin walking through the tunnels [1570.9s] and checking corners as you go. [1573.7s] And you are walking for about 10 minutes or so. [1577.8s] You're on the north side of the city. [1579.8s] And as you're walking, this thudding gets a little louder. [1585.7s] And Torgar tells you, [1587.1s] we're going to have to go take the tunnels under the river [1591.2s] to the other side of the city where we think Thelonious is. [1597.0s] Shouldn't be a problem, but that's where we're going. [1599.5s] And he takes you and stops you around a corner, [1603.9s] tells you to hold back as around the corner, [1607.1s] he says and whispers, [1609.0s] looks like there's some zombie soldiers around the corner here. [1613.4s] I don't think they saw me, [1615.0s] but it looks like there's about four of them. [1617.3s] And that's kind of the way we need to go. [1620.5s] How do you feel about incapacitating them [1626.2s] in order to get through? [1629.0s] Well, if we can, we should probably try. [1631.8s] I've dealt with some undead stuff before [1633.8s] and usually you can't quite incapacitate them, [1636.7s] but we will do our best. [1639.1s] If it has to happen that we have to kill them, [1643.7s] then that's what we have to do. [1644.9s] Those are the words I was looking for. [1648.0s] Well, we get sneak attack anyway, right? [1649.7s] We're still invisible for five more minutes or something. [1652.6s] Yeah. [1653.2s] So you guys get sneak attack. [1655.4s] So you guys kind of all attack at once [1658.5s] because you are concealed and hidden [1661.0s] and they don't know you're there. [1662.1s] So the sneak attack, [1663.3s] you just tell me what you three each want to do. [1665.8s] There are four zombie soldier guys [1669.5s] and we'll say that you three [1673.0s] kind of take the lead on this quick attack here first. [1677.5s] All right. [1678.2s] I'm going to run behind one of them, [1680.1s] get on my hands and knees [1681.6s] and then New Laura is going to shove them over me. [1689.4s] So we're just going to play pranks on them for a little bit? [1691.8s] All right. [1692.2s] Yeah. [1693.3s] Either way, if that's what you want to do. [1695.0s] I mean, one of you has got to get [1696.1s] in front of them somehow though. [1697.4s] So that's going to be interesting. [1699.1s] Well, also, because we can't see each other. [1702.3s] So how will I know when he's in position? [1705.5s] Well, you guys can see each other. [1707.5s] Because you all have the same spell on you. [1709.6s] Imagine like the cone of silence [1711.7s] and everyone inside the cone can hear each other. [1714.2s] I think we're like in a cone of invisibility [1716.6s] where everyone inside your invisible bubble [1718.6s] can see each other. [1719.7s] And I mean, we've been kind of treating it [1721.1s] as invisibility, but I read the spell again. [1722.9s] It's not really an invisible spell. [1724.6s] It's more like a super buff to your stealth spell. [1727.3s] So you're like in the shadow. [1729.2s] We've been treating it like an invisibility spell. [1731.3s] So I'll keep doing that more or less, [1735.3s] but you guys can still see each other. [1738.3s] Yeah, we just have like super stealth and death. [1742.8s] Yeah, it makes you super sneaky and shadowy. [1745.7s] People can't follow our footprints or whatever. [1747.9s] Exactly. [1751.1s] OK. [1752.2s] Basically, we're all wearing Kavoth's shade cloak. [1755.8s] Yes. [1758.6s] Exactly. [1759.2s] All right, so we'll say that the Pass Without a Trace [1761.7s] will kind of wear off after the sneak attack. [1764.8s] So tell me what you want to do [1766.9s] and then we'll roll attacks. [1769.1s] How many? [1769.5s] There's four. [1770.6s] There are four of them. [1772.2s] I aim my Produce Flame at one of them. [1776.8s] OK. [1777.5s] So we're attacking, right? [1779.0s] We're like, well, yeah, you're just going to [1780.5s] because all three of your attacks [1782.0s] are going to kind of happen at the same time [1783.7s] to get sneak attack to get a sneak round. [1786.7s] OK, that's what I'll be doing. [1788.1s] I'm going to, as best I can, get behind [1792.8s] one of these zombo types [1794.6s] and just try and beat them in the back of the head [1797.8s] with my handle of my axe. [1800.5s] So not the blade. [1801.4s] So I'm not trying to kill them. [1803.1s] I'm just trying to take them down. [1804.8s] OK. [1805.3s] All right. [1809.0s] And you, Laura? [1810.9s] This is also my plan. [1812.2s] I'm just going to hit one in the head [1814.0s] with the butt of flametongue to try to incapacitate them [1819.0s] and then maybe tie them up or something. [1822.8s] Sure. [1823.4s] Hoping those flames can take out a couple, [1825.1s] but I imagine they can because [1827.2s] I don't have like an incapacitate kind of spell. [1830.7s] You got to you got to damage them somehow [1832.5s] to incapacitate them, right? [1833.8s] Truth. [1834.7s] So roll attacks for everybody there. [1839.2s] You're just producing flame. [1840.6s] So what's the what's the [1842.6s] And we have advantage on these, correct? [1845.2s] Yes. [1846.1s] So you roll two d20s and take the better. [1848.8s] Five feet. [1849.4s] 22. [1850.6s] So that's a 23. [1852.5s] What's your what's your normal damage on your sword [1857.0s] and your axe? [1858.3s] Normally two d12 plus four. [1861.0s] OK. [1861.4s] So roll a one d10 [1864.1s] just because you're using the butt of it. [1865.6s] And then New Laura. [1868.0s] Part of my damage is fire. [1869.1s] So I'll take that out. [1870.2s] So two d6 plus two. [1872.1s] Just do one d6. [1873.4s] I add six damage, Russ. [1874.8s] OK. [1875.4s] Five and then seven if I'm adding that plus or whatever. [1880.1s] Sure. [1880.4s] Yeah. [1880.7s] Flint and New Laura, you sneak up behind them handily with Pass Without a Trace still on. [1884.9s] And you hit both of these zombified dwarf soldiers, the base of the skull, [1891.3s] and knock two of them prone. [1893.4s] And Thea, you quickly produce flame on the backs of these other two [1898.9s] and they take the damage. [1900.6s] But turn around and seem more or less unfazed by it. [1907.4s] But swing towards you both. [1910.2s] Roll for initiative. [1911.7s] Oh, nat 20. [1913.0s] Why did I waste it? [1916.2s] Because it's an initiative roll. [1917.7s] That's what we always do. [1918.3s] That's the only time we get 20s, I think. [1920.6s] Plus your modifier. [1922.0s] 21. [1922.6s] Seven for me. [1923.7s] 14. [1924.2s] OK. [1924.6s] So Thea, you're up first. [1926.3s] Of course I am. [1927.4s] Thea decides to do that one more time. [1932.3s] So I'm going to produce flame and try to hit those two again. [1935.7s] Sure. [1936.1s] Four. [1937.0s] So Flint and Nularaaaa, you have now kind of ducked down and out of the way of Thea's flame, [1942.6s] which she erupts again from her hand. [1945.8s] And these zombies take another four damage. [1950.2s] Now it is their turn. [1952.1s] Two of them are knocked prone. [1954.4s] They are going to stand up and swing towards Flint and Nularaaaa, who are closest to them. [1964.1s] The one swinging at you, Flint, doesn't do very well. [1967.8s] That's a five. [1969.6s] He's swinging with his hammer. [1971.4s] Excellent. [1972.2s] And that's a critical miss. [1974.6s] So the zombies both stand up and awkwardly and clumsily swing down. [1980.8s] And the one who critically misses on you, Nularaaaa, actually trips himself up and he's prone again. [1988.7s] The two behind them, they walk forward and kind of step push past the other two. [1995.0s] One of them swings at Flint for a 19. [1998.0s] And the other one swings at Nularaaaa for a seven. [2002.2s] So I think Flint hits there and he swings down at you, Flint, for one bludgeoning damage. [2009.5s] Whoa, guys. [2012.6s] There's the all eyes in the end to it. [2014.7s] Should we go? [2015.5s] Do we need to back out through the funnel tunnel? [2018.0s] Need to run away. [2018.8s] I don't think I'm going to be OK, but we'll try it. [2021.9s] Nularaaaa, you're up next. [2023.0s] OK, well, the first guy I attacked is laying down and then another one attacked me. [2028.7s] Yes? [2029.5s] Yes. [2030.2s] OK, well, I'm going to attack him right back. [2033.7s] But again, I'm just trying to disarm him, not murder him, unless he keeps fucking with me. [2042.4s] That's a 25. [2043.9s] 25 will hit. [2044.9s] What weapons do they have? [2046.3s] They are holding war hammers. [2051.0s] It's really more challenging when you're trying not to kill someone. [2056.3s] We're just going to say that you are trying to incapacitate them. [2058.6s] So once they hit zero, they will die. [2063.6s] We'll see what happens once they hit zero. [2066.3s] Unless you tell me that you are actively trying to chop one of their heads off, [2070.3s] we will say that you are trying to incapacitate. [2073.2s] OK, well, maybe I'll use my lance then because it is not sharp, right? [2079.8s] It's more of a bludgeoning instrument. [2083.6s] I don't know. [2084.1s] You had a lot of things skewered on there at one point. [2085.7s] I did. [2086.4s] There is some small piercing damage on it, like if you stab with it, [2090.5s] but the majority of it is not. [2092.5s] So I'm just going to try and bonk him upside the head. [2096.2s] The old classic bonk upside the head, which will get him. [2100.2s] Sorry, let me just find that die. [2101.5s] I don't use it that often. [2104.2s] Uh, 11 plus 3 is 14, damn it. [2108.3s] So that guy is knocked down to the ground and appears to be unconscious. [2114.6s] Flint, you have two zombies attempting or kind of piled in front of you there. [2120.3s] You see Nulara swing her lance and knock one down to the ground. [2124.3s] It appears unconscious. [2125.7s] And now it's your turn. [2126.7s] OK, yeah, I guess I'll try and incapacitate the one that's prone. [2132.8s] Let's say 14. [2134.1s] He's prone, so you get advantage. [2137.0s] 14 doesn't hit, but yeah. [2139.5s] Oh, well, that's much better. [2140.6s] 23. [2141.2s] 23 will hit, yeah. [2142.6s] 8 damage. [2143.4s] He is hit, but still looks conscious there. [2147.9s] All right, well, let's second attack. [2150.8s] That one's an 18. [2152.2s] 18 will hit, yeah. [2153.7s] Excellent. [2154.6s] And 4 damage. [2156.6s] On the same one, he is still conscious. [2162.0s] So now it's Torgar and Osric's turn and they can't really seem to get by. [2167.4s] So they are just going to ready their actions. [2170.6s] And if something, if one of you was knocked down, they will be ready to go next. [2176.4s] Thea, your turn. [2177.8s] So Flint is swinging the butt of his axe down on the prone one. [2183.6s] He has two other zombies right in front of him who are able to attack, [2189.2s] and Nulara has taken one out. [2191.4s] OK, I move in a way so that Flint isn't blocking the two. [2197.7s] And I produce a thorn whip. [2201.1s] So I'm going to thorn whip one of them, I suppose, [2206.5s] which means I need to make a melee spell attack. [2209.7s] So I need to roll a d20, yes. [2212.2s] I don't use this very often. [2213.4s] Here we go. [2215.4s] 15 plus, is there a plus 8? [2218.2s] Spell attack bonus, yeah. [2219.3s] All right, so 23. [2221.0s] 23 will hit. [2222.0s] So this vine comes out and wraps itself. [2225.3s] And I can pull it 10 feet closer to me, [2227.8s] but I was thinking about pulling it to the side and like trying to pull them, [2232.4s] because this isn't a large area, is it? [2234.6s] Is the width? [2235.4s] About 10 feet wide. [2236.9s] So they are, yeah, they're in kind of the middle of the hallway. [2239.8s] So instead of pulling toward me, [2241.4s] I was going to whip them to the side against the wall. [2246.2s] Yeah, it'd still come towards you, but you can kind of angle it. [2249.6s] Angle it so that he whacks against the wall. [2251.0s] Is that any extra wall damage? [2253.5s] Thorn damage and wall damage. [2254.6s] You get 2d6 damage for 2d6 piercing damage. [2259.8s] I do? [2260.6s] Yeah. [2261.1s] Germans are well known for their wall fighting ability. [2263.9s] Of course, right? [2265.0s] Yeah, 2d6 piercing damage. [2267.8s] And yeah, you're ramming them into the wall, so give it another d4. [2271.7s] Six plus three is nine damage. [2274.8s] Nine damage. [2275.4s] So you wrap your vines around and they dig into its skin, [2280.3s] and you pull him into the wall with a huge thud, [2283.6s] and he takes all of that damage and is now past Flint and Nulara [2287.3s] and more directly in front of you. [2289.5s] Okay, which probably maybe means that Hammeh and Ostrich can get into this [2297.1s] action because he's closer to us. [2298.6s] Okay, cool. [2299.4s] That seemed like a good idea. [2300.5s] That worked out. [2301.2s] Torgar sees this and he is going to take his action. [2305.1s] His hammer has been covered. [2308.7s] I'm trying to say how you just haven't really seen it, [2311.7s] but he pulls the covering off of his hammer, [2315.3s] and it isn't like a standard war hammer. [2318.4s] It is a solid piece of like mined ore, [2324.6s] and he pulls that out and swings at the zombie that you, [2330.2s] Thea, have just pulled towards you and hits him. [2333.5s] That's a 16, and he gets two d8 plus two damage. [2339.4s] He incapacitates the zombie that you have pulled towards you, [2344.5s] and now it is the other two zombies' turn. [2346.9s] The prone one stands back up and swings at you, [2350.7s] Flint, for a 15. [2354.3s] Not good enough. [2355.3s] The other zombie swings at you, [2357.0s] Flint, and that's a 15. [2359.8s] So he misses as well. [2361.2s] So there are two zombies still active and now both standing. [2366.6s] Nularaaaa, you see Thea pull one past you and Flint [2379.8s] and into a wall, [2380.8s] and then Torgar strike it down until it's unconscious, [2385.2s] and now it is your turn. [2387.0s] Both swing wildly at Flint, [2389.1s] but you get to take an action now. [2391.0s] Excellent. [2391.6s] I'm going to remember to take both attacks this time. [2394.2s] And Donnie's, too. [2395.0s] We skipped Donnie. [2396.3s] Oh, yeah. [2402.7s] It is. [2403.3s] Welcome back, or welcome to The Adventure [2405.9s] if this is your first episode. [2407.3s] This is episode 16 of Dumbgeons and Dragons, [2409.9s] titled No Waiting, Only Murder, a.k.a. The Funnel Tunnels. [2414.1s] If this is your first episode, welcome. [2416.2s] It certainly is a great time to jump on board, [2418.1s] but I would recommend catching up on the previous episodes [2420.2s] and we've made it easier for you in a couple different ways. [2423.0s] What you can do, one of two things. [2425.0s] You can go back to episode one and just start from the beginning. [2428.8s] There's 15, at least 15 hours of great content, great goofs. [2432.8s] Some of the first couple episodes, I'm not going to lie, [2435.0s] a little shaky, but if you push through, it gets much better. [2438.3s] Last week, though, we released a recap episode. [2441.6s] I know, we were thinking, right? [2442.9s] We want you to get on board right now. [2445.0s] So you can go listen to that recap episode. [2446.6s] Then you're at least caught up to where we are now. [2448.9s] And then you can go forward with us [2450.5s] and then you can choose to go back [2451.9s] and listen to those first 15 episodes, [2454.0s] which lots of great goofs, [2455.3s] lots of great adventure, highly recommend it. [2457.5s] How's the episode sitting with you? [2459.0s] Would love to hear your thoughts. [2460.2s] We're trying out some new things these last couple episodes [2462.9s] to bring some new depth to the adventurers. [2465.0s] And trust me, those new things carry right on through [2467.8s] to the end of this episode and beyond. [2469.3s] So make sure you listen right on through till the end. [2472.9s] We've seen a couple nice bits of feedback [2474.7s] and comments these last couple of weeks, [2476.2s] and I wanted to share with you. [2477.7s] On Twitter, at oldschoolcm tweeted, [2480.6s] from one DM to another DM, [2482.2s] sweet move with Lent in episode nine [2483.9s] of the Dumb Dragon cast. [2485.1s] The players are starting to get paranoid. [2487.0s] Hashtag D&D, hashtag evil DM. [2489.0s] That's what you want, right? [2490.0s] Have the players checking every door, window, corner, [2492.2s] and NPC for a potential trap? [2494.2s] I thought it was fun. [2495.2s] Thanks for pointing that one out at oldschoolcm. [2497.8s] We're really happy that you are continuing [2499.2s] this journey with us. [2500.0s] We've seen some wonderful growth of the show, [2502.4s] both on social media and in episode downloads. [2505.3s] We're happy and thankful that you are enjoying the show [2508.1s] and continuing on this journey with us. [2509.6s] That's all I've got for now. [2510.5s] The next episode in our adventure will be available [2512.8s] July 12th with episode 17. [2515.1s] So let's get right back into the funnel tunnels [2517.4s] for a little more murder. [2519.4s] We'll talk to you in a couple of weeks. [2520.8s] Have fun and make sure you get those entries in. [2522.7s] We are bad at this game. [2532.9s] So I'm going to do the lance obnoxious [2537.6s] swat upside the head. [2538.8s] I feel like this happened in a movie once [2540.7s] and it was very insulting. [2542.0s] They were actually doing a horse duel lance lancing [2546.7s] and instead of trying to actually hit him, [2548.4s] he just smacked him upside the head [2550.4s] to really prove how much better he was. [2552.8s] It's probably a night's tale. [2554.0s] I was just thinking that. [2555.4s] I was just going to say the one with Heath Ledger. [2557.3s] Yeah. [2557.6s] That's what I'm picturing. [2558.7s] So that's probably it. [2561.1s] That is a 26. [2563.8s] 26 will hit, yeah. [2565.6s] So he gets a six damage. [2571.6s] And that one is now appears to be unconscious. [2575.8s] Perfect. [2576.2s] Then I'll swing around and try and hit the other. [2579.5s] And that is a no, 10, no, 11. [2586.0s] 11 will not hit. [2587.2s] No. [2587.4s] Okay. [2588.6s] Then I guess Donnie will try and like give him [2590.7s] a little little chomp-a-roo, [2593.0s] which also will not work because that is a nine. [2595.6s] Okay. [2596.2s] So you swing and knock one unconscious [2601.0s] and miss with the other one entirely. [2603.9s] And Donnie, he's just finding trouble [2607.8s] amongst all these swinging hammers and sticks [2610.4s] to try and get a good dig in there. [2613.3s] Flint, your turn. [2614.2s] There is only one zombie who is left standing and active. [2617.5s] That is a 21. [2619.7s] 21 will do it. [2621.5s] And seven damage. [2622.8s] He is knocked back a little bit but still standing. [2626.1s] Okay. [2627.2s] And that's a 16 for the second roll. [2629.6s] 16 will hit, yep. [2631.8s] With nine damage. [2633.3s] And you knock him unconscious as well. [2636.7s] So all four zombies are now laid out on the ground [2640.7s] and they appear to be have just incapacitated [2643.9s] as opposed to kill. [2646.0s] Excellent. [2646.7s] Good job. [2647.7s] We did it. [2648.7s] We didn't do murders once, ever. [2651.9s] Once, for once. [2653.1s] I think this might be the first time [2654.4s] we haven't just murdered everything. [2655.9s] I think so too. [2657.1s] So we tie them up, I guess. [2659.9s] So it's four less to deal with at some other point. [2663.2s] Can we use that thorn whip to tie them up? [2665.8s] That seems more painful. [2667.1s] Seems kind of cruel but I'm not opposed. [2669.5s] Seems more incapacitating. [2672.2s] I don't know if you can [2673.2s] because it's an instantaneous thing that disappears after you use it. [2676.1s] Oh, I see. [2677.1s] It's illusionary. [2679.5s] In my mind, the vine actually shrivels up. [2682.1s] Yeah. [2682.3s] Oh, that's fun. [2683.8s] So yeah, let's just tie them up with some ropes. [2688.3s] Keep on going. [2689.3s] Yeah, you each tie up one of these zombies [2691.8s] and kind of pile them off to the side [2694.4s] and you continue on. [2696.2s] And as you keep going further into this tunnel system, [2700.8s] Torgar's leading you, [2702.0s] that thudding that you heard and continue to hear increases in volume [2707.4s] and it's getting louder and louder but still very consistent. [2710.8s] He tells you that you're coming close to [2713.0s] where you should be going underneath the river [2715.6s] and there's a final staircase that goes down [2719.4s] and the thudding is louder and louder and louder. [2723.0s] You step down off this final step [2725.1s] and there is a four to six inch layer of water. [2728.6s] It appears that this tunnel is starting to fill up [2731.6s] and you look ahead and down to the end of this tunnel [2734.2s] and you see six dwarven soldiers with their hammers [2739.6s] beating in the sides of this tunnel. [2742.6s] Water looks like it's streaming in from where they are impacting it. [2747.8s] Well, this seems like a suicide mission for them. [2751.0s] Yeah, no kidding. [2752.2s] Torgar and you guys follow down and you take a splash into the water [2756.9s] and they look over to you [2758.9s] and four of them begin charging towards you [2761.1s] while two of them continue to hammer on the wall. [2765.8s] Roll for initiative. [2767.2s] Looks like we're gonna have to stop that business. [2769.6s] Oh, I only got a five. [2771.9s] Nineteen? [2773.0s] Fifteen. [2773.4s] Good job, you guys. [2775.2s] My initiative bonus is plus three, so it's pretty good. [2778.3s] Nice. [2779.0s] Okay, so Torgar is first down and he's first to react [2783.3s] and he runs towards the four charging zombies [2787.1s] and swings his hammer at one of the ones in the front. [2791.8s] First one hits but doesn't hit squarely on the first one [2795.7s] and his second strike connects solidly with one of the other zombies [2801.0s] and it takes 15 bludgeoning damage [2805.4s] and it is knocked prone [2807.2s] and now it is Nularaaaa. [2809.4s] You follow quickly behind Torgar and it is your turn. [2812.1s] Okay, I'll attack the next in the approaching group. [2818.1s] That is a six, no, 15. [2820.6s] Are you still using your lance? [2821.7s] Yeah. [2822.0s] 15 will kind of glance off its armor. [2824.8s] The old lance glance. [2826.2s] Okay, I'm going to try that one more time [2829.2s] and that is a 23, so that one will probably work better. [2832.4s] Yep. [2833.6s] And that is 13 damage. [2837.2s] You give him a good hit and it stops him in his tracks [2847.4s] and the two zombies running behind them kind of barrel in [2851.2s] to the two that are now knocked down [2853.4s] and there's a bit of a pile of zombies [2856.1s] as they are trying to right themselves. [2858.4s] Flint, it's your turn. [2860.0s] So you have Nularaaaa and Torgar in front of you [2863.4s] and then four zombies in a frantic pile [2866.2s] trying to stand back up right now. [2868.1s] Is there like that Benny Hill music playing in the background? [2871.7s] Always, always. [2872.9s] Okay, perfect. [2873.5s] Because that's what's running through my head [2874.8s] whenever we play this game. [2875.9s] Of course. [2876.7s] I'm going to run past Torgar and Nularaaaa [2879.8s] and dive on in with a 14, so that's not going to do it. [2889.8s] Second attack. [2891.4s] Oh, that's much better, 19. [2892.6s] 19 will do it, yep. [2893.8s] Excellent. [2894.7s] Oh, 10 damage. [2897.0s] You run through and past Nularaaaa and Torgar [2900.8s] and you connect with one and kind of, [2904.1s] we'll say that you kind of do like a tuck and roll [2907.0s] over top of these scrambling zombies [2909.4s] and you are now on the other side of this pile of zombies. [2913.0s] And that one takes that damage [2916.2s] and it is two of the zombies who were first knocked down. [2920.3s] They stand back up. [2922.2s] First one swings towards Torgar [2924.0s] who doesn't roll well today who misses [2928.7s] and the second one swings toward Nularaaaa [2931.0s] and that is a 15. [2933.3s] I think that misses as well. [2935.2s] Yeah, that misses. [2936.3s] I'm not trying to make this easy on you guys. [2938.2s] It's just working out that way. [2941.1s] That's better because we're trying not to kill them. [2943.0s] So it would be unfair if they were really trying to kill us. [2946.2s] Thea, you see the zombies knocked down [2948.7s] and Flint run and jump over them [2950.6s] and now he's on the other side and now it's your turn. [2953.6s] Okay, I am going to, [2956.9s] there's still two still beating on the walls, right? [2959.5s] Yeah. [2959.8s] Trying to get this whole shit to come down. [2962.7s] I am going to cast Conjure Animal. [2966.2s] I'm going to summon face spirits that take the form of beasts [2969.8s] and appear in the space directly in front of these two assholes [2973.8s] trying to cave the walls in. [2975.4s] Okay. [2976.2s] The beast that I choose is going to be a crocodile because it's... [2981.7s] It's within your challenge rating ability. [2983.3s] It's within my challenge rating ability of one half. [2985.4s] Okay. [2986.1s] Oh, I can choose a challenge rating of two. [2988.2s] Yeah, well just keep in mind that you've got space restrictions to consider. [2991.1s] Oh yeah, a crocodile would probably be good, you know, [2992.9s] because the water, I don't know. [2995.3s] So yeah, so I do that [2999.0s] and I'm and my crocodile, [3001.8s] can I fight with my crocodile immediately as I conjure him [3005.7s] or is that my action? [3006.8s] Hold on a second. [3007.4s] So you can summon four beasts at a challenge rating of one half. [3011.4s] I'm going to do, well, two of these beasts then. [3014.0s] I don't have to do four, do I? [3015.5s] I can do two crocodiles. [3017.0s] Yeah. [3017.5s] Good, because there are two guys there. [3018.8s] I'm going to scroll down. [3020.2s] The summoned creatures are friendly to us, but not to them. [3023.0s] Rule initiative for the summoned creatures as a group which has its own turn. [3027.5s] So it has to fall in line, [3029.0s] so it might not be able to go right away unless it falls. [3032.7s] Ten. [3034.2s] They would go next. [3034.9s] They would go next, cool. [3036.9s] So you have to give them a command. [3039.1s] Yes. [3039.8s] Otherwise, they just kind of stand there. [3041.4s] So I command, I say, hey, crocs, bite those assholes. [3049.2s] No, bite those guys. [3050.3s] They acknowledge your command and they go to attack the two that are hammering on the wall. [3056.2s] Yes. [3056.9s] So you roll attacks for your crocodiles. [3059.6s] Okay, they are going to use their bite because that's all they got. [3064.7s] Hold breath. [3065.3s] I don't think it's really going to happen. [3066.9s] So your first one hits. [3069.8s] Do you attack for your second one as well? [3072.4s] They fight as a group. [3074.1s] They still have to make an attack roll on each of them. [3076.8s] Okay, that one does not. [3077.9s] That's a seven. [3079.7s] So the first one is going to bite for 1d10 plus two. [3084.4s] So that's five. [3085.8s] Right in the ass. [3086.8s] So they're very literal when you say, bite those assholes. [3090.8s] That's what they're doing. [3092.6s] Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained. [3096.6s] So he's biting and holding. [3097.9s] That's my no. [3099.0s] Yeah, that's that's good. [3100.0s] I just need to. [3100.7s] There's something I had to get out of restraint. [3102.6s] I just need to know what the check is. [3105.0s] Guys, I'm so excited. [3106.0s] I'm using something new. [3107.4s] I know it's really fun, too. [3109.1s] And good choice because it just gives them the old chomp. [3112.6s] And then maybe he can't fight. [3115.2s] Yeah, maybe he can't fight now. [3117.2s] I like it also not breaking down the walls. [3120.5s] I mean, he's still that other guy. [3121.8s] And intimidating. [3123.5s] Yeah, like, boom, crocodiles out of nowhere. [3126.1s] I'd pee my pants. [3127.7s] Yep. [3128.2s] Agreed. [3128.9s] It has to make a strength check on its turn, but not right now. [3133.1s] So the crocodiles. [3134.6s] So Osric, he pulls out his crossbow and he goes to shoot one in the pile of mess there [3144.7s] and hits with an 18 and he will get eight piercing damage into one that's in the in [3151.8s] the pile in the middle there. [3153.5s] Two more in the center of the mess stand up and one that turns around and swings [3159.2s] towards Flint. [3160.2s] The other goes towards Nulara. [3162.9s] The one goes towards Flint is a nine. [3166.5s] So that's not going to be good. [3170.2s] And also a nine from your I'm just not going to play. [3172.4s] You guys just tell me when you kill them. [3173.7s] Okay, incapacitate them. [3178.2s] That's right. [3178.6s] Being good. [3179.5s] Yeah. [3180.2s] So the two hammering on the wall. [3181.8s] It's their turn now. [3182.7s] The one who is grappled by the crocodile can certainly try to escape the grapple. [3188.5s] I just imagine grape apple. [3190.0s] The word grapples. [3190.8s] We've been ruined. [3192.5s] Is there no, you can't see what you need to get. [3195.7s] No. [3196.3s] Okay. [3196.6s] I rolled a 13. [3197.4s] Okay. [3197.9s] Just trying to play for fighting over the book. [3202.4s] Piercing damage is grappled until the grapple ends is already restrained. [3206.6s] And the crocodile can't buy it. [3207.8s] So we can't obviously like he's got a mouthful already. [3210.1s] You can't attack someone different. [3211.8s] So he's just going to hold him. [3213.9s] Okay. [3214.6s] Well, he's going to try and get it, but not. [3217.7s] And he's going to swing with disadvantage because he is grappled, [3222.0s] but he's going to swing, which is a nine versus his AC. [3227.8s] Nine versus my crocodile's AC. [3229.8s] Yeah. [3230.5s] 12. [3231.0s] So that doesn't hit. [3232.5s] The other one continues to hammer on the wall and ignores the other crocodile there. [3241.0s] And as he continues to hammer, you hear an audible crack and crumble. [3247.0s] And it appears like more water begins to come into this tunnel. [3250.9s] Goodness gracious. [3253.0s] And to Torgar. [3255.6s] That's me again. [3256.6s] All right. [3257.0s] Let's just see if I can mess with this one too. [3259.0s] Torgar. [3259.5s] He swings at, he sees these crocodiles appear and he's like, holy shit, that's cool. [3267.8s] That's the appropriate response. [3269.9s] And he swings his hammer single-handed at the two zombies in front of him, [3276.1s] but seems a little bit thrown off by the, by the holy shit. [3279.4s] That's cool. [3280.0s] Crocodiles and misses with bows. [3282.5s] And Nulara, it is your turn. [3284.1s] You also see two spirit crocodiles, which is the first time you've seen [3288.3s] Thea do something like this appear down at the end of this tunnel. [3293.4s] I would just like to say Thea has been able to do this for a very long time and never has. [3300.1s] They don't need to know that. [3301.7s] Yeah, that's, yeah, that's fine. [3302.9s] I'll assume you learned it in your book. [3304.8s] That's right. [3305.4s] Books are important. [3305.8s] So I yell, sweet shit, Thea, dope spell. [3309.9s] Is there one now in front of me? [3311.8s] Two are laying down. [3312.7s] All four are standing up, but there are four in front of you. [3316.6s] One is engaged in combat with Flint directly. [3320.2s] The other three are more aimed towards you and Torgar. [3324.2s] Okay. [3324.6s] Well, I'll just attack the one closest to me, I suppose. [3328.1s] It's a 23. [3329.1s] 23 will hit. [3331.0s] That is 14 damage. [3333.6s] That one is now appears to be unconscious. [3337.4s] Perfect. [3338.1s] I will attack a different one. [3341.0s] That is a 28. [3343.2s] And 12 damage. [3347.7s] And that one is also unconscious. [3351.7s] Donnie's going to try and bite one. [3353.4s] Yep. [3355.1s] That's a 19. [3356.9s] Donnie. [3358.3s] 19 will be good. [3359.2s] So that is a four damage. [3364.2s] And then he needs to do a constitution saving throw. [3369.3s] Poison does not affect zombies. [3371.2s] So nothing happens there, but he does take the four damage. [3375.7s] Okay. [3376.1s] He is still standing. [3378.2s] So Flint, you have one zombie directly in front of you swinging its hammer at you. [3383.8s] It is your turn. [3385.0s] Anyone else imagining Russ though, every time he says still standing, [3387.8s] like these zombies are singing in their head like, [3389.9s] I'm still standing better than I ever did. [3394.3s] That's better than if they're watching that Jim Belushi sitcom. [3397.9s] So that's true. [3399.4s] That's true. [3400.2s] I think the song would be a great fight montage song. [3405.5s] I'm into it. [3407.0s] Oh, totally. [3408.3s] Yeah. [3408.6s] I was going to get those rights. [3409.8s] I was going to say we can't afford Elton John style rights, but I like the idea. [3415.0s] I'll call him up. [3415.6s] Play it on a recorder. [3417.1s] That's right. [3418.1s] Wait a minute. [3418.6s] That's just hot cross buns. [3421.4s] Every time. [3422.5s] Every time. [3424.1s] Are there still the guys hammering into the wall? [3427.4s] Yes, sir. [3428.1s] Am I close enough to run over there? [3430.0s] You are. [3430.5s] There are two, two crocodiles between you and them though. [3435.3s] But they're not going to hurt you. [3436.6s] But they're friendly to me, right? [3438.3s] Whether you as Flint know that or not is uncertain. [3442.2s] Can I ask Thea if they're friendly or not? [3445.6s] Yeah. [3445.9s] Hey Thea, are those crocs of yours going to hurt me if I go over there? [3450.1s] No, no, man. [3450.7s] They're like puppies, scaly puppies. [3452.3s] You go, you go. [3453.6s] All right. [3454.6s] All right. [3454.8s] I'm going to run over there and try and take one of them down, I guess. [3460.6s] You are running away from the zombie that's in front of you? [3463.7s] Yes. [3464.0s] He will get an opportunity to attack me. [3465.8s] That is fine. [3466.6s] So we're going to do that here first. [3468.9s] He's not going to do anything. [3469.8s] I don't know why it even matters. [3471.0s] It's 13. [3471.8s] Keep going. [3472.4s] Run. [3472.7s] So confident that you were going to botch the roll that it was totally fine. [3476.4s] Get rid of these fucking dice. [3480.8s] He actually changed his dice right now. [3482.8s] He's like, this one's broken. [3484.8s] This one's broken. [3487.0s] That's so good. [3488.0s] All right. [3488.7s] So yeah, I'm going to attack the one that did get bit by the croc because he was a little [3493.5s] more hurt and see if I can take him down. [3496.7s] Sure. [3497.0s] All right. [3497.2s] That's an 18. [3499.1s] 18 will do it. [3499.8s] And nine damage on that first attack. [3502.6s] It is grappled by this crocodile and you hit it and it is still alive. [3507.8s] Okay. [3508.6s] Well, I mean, I'm just trying to not try to kill him. [3512.8s] It is still able to take an action. [3514.4s] Okay, perfect. [3515.7s] That is a critical on a 19. [3519.8s] Because I get twice as many chances to hit criticals as everyone else. [3523.4s] All right. [3524.2s] So damage wise, this shouldn't be too bad because I'm still using like the blunt side [3529.0s] of my axe. [3530.5s] So that's six and another six. [3533.5s] So 12 damage. [3534.6s] It is unconscious now as well. [3537.3s] And we go to the first two zombies that had charged. [3542.2s] There's only one of those left up. [3544.2s] And he swings towards, it doesn't even really matter who he swings towards. [3548.4s] It's going to miss. [3549.6s] I'm going to swing towards Nulara. [3551.6s] Oh, that's a 21. [3553.6s] What? [3554.4s] Yep. [3554.6s] That'll hit. [3555.1s] Not critical. [3556.1s] Not critical. [3557.5s] And you take- [3558.2s] Quick, Amy. [3558.9s] Change the dice backwards. [3560.0s] Not looking. [3561.3s] You take- [3561.8s] It's red versus black. [3563.0s] I think he'd notice. [3564.2s] Yeah. [3564.7s] You take six bludgeoning damage off of that zombie soldier. [3569.1s] And then it is Thea. [3570.8s] Your turn. [3572.3s] Okay. [3573.8s] Well, guys, this allows me to have two actions. [3578.4s] I've always wanted two actions. [3579.5s] This is all you've ever wanted. [3580.8s] I love it. [3581.4s] It's all I've ever wanted. [3582.9s] And one time you're crocodile. [3585.0s] So it's just more exciting than just a roll roll. [3589.2s] Yeah. [3590.0s] Okay. [3590.4s] So I guess there is, there is. [3596.5s] So what you see, water's rising. [3598.6s] There are two zombies who are unconscious in the center, [3602.6s] engaged in combat with Nulara and Torgar. [3604.9s] There are two still standing there. [3607.8s] One is in the mouth of one of your crocodiles. [3610.5s] It is unconscious. [3612.2s] The other is still hammering on the wall with the crocodile [3615.4s] and now Flint over there. [3616.9s] I am going to get out my oath bow. [3619.9s] I'm going to say swift death to those who have wronged me. [3623.8s] You have to pick one of them. [3625.6s] I'm picking the one that is hammering on the wall [3627.9s] because I feel like this guy can just kill us all. [3629.9s] Yeah. [3630.3s] So I'm going to shoot my oath bow. [3634.9s] This is why I don't use weapons. [3637.4s] Four plus two, six. [3641.1s] So your oath bow shot just goes wide. [3643.4s] Whatever. [3643.9s] I've got two crocodiles. [3646.4s] I command the one crocodile to let go of the guy that he's biting [3650.9s] and for both of them to focus their attention on [3654.3s] the one that is pounding on the wall. [3656.3s] Sure. [3657.6s] So damn, damn, damn it. [3661.9s] That's a seven for one of them. [3663.6s] Matt misses. [3664.4s] Oh, a nat 20 for the other one. [3667.4s] The other one is the one that has not previously bit somebody. [3670.4s] So he gets a turn now. [3672.0s] So he is going to bite the derriere of this one [3676.6s] because his back is to him. [3678.5s] And he's going to do the death roll [3681.4s] because he's a crocodile and crocodiles do that. [3683.4s] Can I get him to do that? [3685.2s] Yeah. [3687.1s] It's not going to give him any more damage, [3688.4s] but can it rip him off his feet? [3690.0s] You'd get damage from the bite because he's biting him. [3692.5s] Yeah. [3693.4s] But I mean, can he also rip him down into the water and spin? [3696.4s] He'd be restrained and then prone. [3698.0s] Well, I mean, he'd be restrained, but yeah. [3700.4s] Cool. [3700.8s] Sure. [3702.0s] One D10 plus two. [3703.2s] Times two. [3704.7s] What? [3705.2s] Because you got a critical. [3707.6s] That's nine, 10, 11 times two? [3710.2s] Or do I roll twice? [3710.8s] You roll again. [3711.5s] Oh, yeah. [3712.0s] You don't get your plus again, but yeah, you get another dice. [3714.9s] Cool. [3716.0s] That's 17. [3716.8s] 17. [3719.6s] He's like barrel rolling this guy. [3723.7s] So he is... [3725.2s] Flint, in front of you, you see one of these crocodiles [3727.6s] just snatch this zombie soldier [3730.2s] and then just begin rolling with him. [3734.1s] And it looks like quite a violent roll. [3737.2s] Nobody looks happy about it, except the crocodile. [3739.6s] Crocodile looks pretty stoked. [3740.7s] Whee! [3742.8s] Ostrich shoots his crossbow into one of the ones [3746.6s] that is in front of Nulara and Torgar. [3750.0s] And he gets a 19, which is going to be eight piercing damage. [3757.0s] And that one is unconscious. [3759.2s] So there is now only one in front of Nulara and Torgar. [3765.5s] And now it is that one's turn. [3768.3s] And he is going to swing at Torgar for 21, not critical. [3774.7s] And Torgar is going to take one damage. [3779.2s] Single damage. [3780.6s] A toe-stubbing worth of damage, if you will. [3782.8s] Is that what Flint has, too? [3783.7s] And Torgar's damage. [3785.6s] His toe's achy. [3786.8s] He's got an achy toe. [3789.0s] Zombie, who is now in a death roll. [3791.6s] I'm just going to roll and see if we can... [3794.1s] Strength check? [3794.9s] Yeah, roll a strength check for your crocodile. [3797.8s] Nat 20. [3799.5s] Even my... [3800.6s] Damn! [3801.2s] Yeah. [3801.6s] You got the good dice tonight. [3803.0s] Yeah, you got 22. [3804.0s] 22. [3804.4s] So I got a 20. [3806.0s] You have a Nat 20. [3807.2s] This is my third one. [3808.1s] It's amazing. [3808.8s] He is flailing against this crocodile. [3811.1s] This crocodile is hammering him. [3813.8s] Kind of the role of this, though, is giving some more shake to the wall. [3819.3s] And you see some more crumbling coming out of the wall. [3822.1s] Yeah, I'll stop. [3823.2s] It's not the crocodile's turn. [3824.7s] It doesn't matter. [3825.7s] I can give verbal commands. [3826.8s] It's not your turn either. [3828.3s] What? [3828.8s] It's not your turn. [3830.0s] It has to be my turn. [3831.2s] It says no action required by you. [3834.2s] From the start to the end is six seconds. [3836.5s] Oh, all right. [3837.8s] Yeah. [3838.2s] Go so fast. [3839.2s] I know. [3840.3s] And now it's Torgar's turn. [3841.7s] There's one zombie left between him and Nulara there. [3846.8s] And that is a 20, not critical. [3849.6s] 11 damage. [3850.8s] So that zombie takes a big hit, but is still up. [3855.3s] And Nulara, your turn. [3856.7s] I have a question. [3857.4s] If one of the people in the campaign, our friends, were to ask me to ask the crocodile [3863.6s] to stop, would I be able to let them stop? [3867.3s] No, because it's still not your turn. [3868.6s] No, I know. [3869.0s] But like when Flint asked me, hey, are these crocodiles cool? [3872.4s] And I said, yeah, they're like puppies. [3874.8s] Would it not be, would that not set a precedent that I can speak? [3877.7s] You still have to give. [3878.9s] Well, yeah, you're engaged in quick conversation with. [3882.9s] I'm just trying to find the loop. [3884.0s] No, no, you can't, you can't stop your goddamn things. [3888.1s] Fine. [3888.6s] Lara, it's your turn. [3889.3s] Keep looking. [3889.9s] I think you're on the trail. [3891.3s] Follow the money, Amy. [3892.7s] So I'm going to attack that last one. [3895.5s] That is a 17. [3897.0s] 17 will hit, yeah. [3898.7s] Nine. [3899.8s] Nine is enough to incapacitate that zombie. [3904.1s] Nice. [3904.7s] So there's just the one in the death roll with the crocodile still active, we'll say. [3911.2s] Okay. [3911.6s] You don't know how you're going to. [3912.6s] Yeah, like I'm probably not going to. [3914.6s] Even though it won't hurt me, it might accidentally still seems like a bad idea. [3920.8s] Also, we got to get out of here because that wall cracked, right? [3924.8s] Do you want to start just start running? [3927.2s] I don't know. [3927.6s] What do you guys think? [3928.4s] Like, I guess we haven't heard any updates on how that cracked wall went. [3931.7s] It will be very ironic if this battle took three times longer than normal because [3936.2s] we were using not our best weapons to try not to kill these things. [3939.7s] And now it just floods and they all die. [3942.2s] Truth. [3942.8s] Yeah, that would be really stupid. [3944.8s] I say we run. [3945.8s] Yeah. [3946.3s] Because what's one non-incapacitated soldier out of like hundreds that we still are yet to fight? [3952.0s] Yeah. [3952.5s] Yeah, let's, let's. [3953.8s] How high is the water at this point? [3955.6s] About knee height. [3957.9s] Knee height. [3958.6s] Okay. [3960.0s] So you're, you would be slowed unless you have some sort of. [3963.9s] Crocodile to ride on? [3964.8s] I don't know. [3965.2s] Crocodile to ride on. [3967.6s] But yes, you would be slowed in terms of making distance. [3971.4s] I mean, I can walk on water. [3974.0s] Yes, you can. [3974.7s] I forgot that too. [3975.8s] Yeah. [3976.4s] Girl, walk on water. [3978.0s] We can water walk for one hour. [3980.3s] I think up to 10 willing creatures. [3983.6s] There you go. [3984.5s] Oh damn. [3985.0s] So we just walk as though on solid ground. [3988.2s] Let's walk our asses out of here. [3990.0s] In a now three foot tall. [3992.1s] Oh Jesus. [3993.2s] Oh, so we're bent like literally half seas at the waist. [3998.9s] Yeah. [3999.2s] Well, Flint's not. [4001.6s] Yeah, I'm just ducking slightly. [4003.3s] Neither is Torgar and Ostrich, right? [4005.1s] Flint, Torgar and Ostrich aren't. [4006.6s] That's true. [4007.2s] They're like hunched a bit. [4009.8s] I will. [4010.4s] I'll just lay down on top of one of my crocodiles and have them. [4016.1s] You can too. [4017.1s] We do have two crocodiles if you want to. [4019.0s] I love it. [4019.5s] That sounds amazing. [4020.8s] So you are casting water walk then as your second action? [4025.4s] Sure. [4025.7s] Walking on water. [4026.7s] Yeah, water walk, I believe. [4028.3s] You cast this and you guys just kind of go whoop. [4031.0s] Right to the top. [4032.4s] Nice sound effect. [4033.6s] I like that. [4034.7s] Yeah, that was good. [4035.6s] And then Flint, it's your turn. [4039.1s] I thought we were booking it out. [4040.6s] You're booking it. [4041.4s] Okay, so Flint, as everybody begins booking it, you hear in your brain space, [4049.5s] you hear Bort say, hey, I figured it out. [4053.3s] And then you feel a rumble, a burning charge. [4059.9s] We're making an attack roll. [4064.9s] 16. [4066.1s] Do I have any modifiers? [4067.4s] Question. [4068.2s] No, we'll just do that for now. [4070.5s] You feel and now see. [4073.9s] So everybody's kind of behind you because you were closest to the exit stairs to get up. [4079.1s] Everybody else sees out of Flint's mouth come an electric lightning charge. [4086.6s] As he breathes lightning down this tunnel, Flint, roll 2d6. [4092.8s] Okay. [4093.6s] And also I turn around at everyone and wink at them. [4099.1s] Five and five is ten. [4101.0s] You're erupting lightning from your mouth and you turn and it strikes the wall and you turn [4109.2s] and the wall visibly cracks and water begins streaming in as you guys [4117.0s] run past this flood of water now coming into this tunnel. [4121.4s] The tunnel is flooding. [4122.8s] Water is coming up quickly and you guys are running out of this tunnel, [4127.1s] which is now kind of filling up the stairwell behind you and continuing to rise [4132.4s] as you look down and see if it's stopping or if it's not, it is not stopping. [4137.6s] It is continuing to rise music in today's episode was by Kavin McLeod [4165.6s] of Incompetech.Filmmusic.io just clicked a weird off thing. [4170.5s] Maybe. [4171.0s] Okay. Sorry. [4171.7s] That had nothing to do with anything. [4173.4s] Okay. [4174.4s] Or did it have something to do with everything? [4176.4s] I was going to say if you went to zero AC, [4179.2s] I think we would have left you outside the funnel tunnels. [4184.4s] Dumbgeons and Dragons is a dumb dragons production.
